I agree with the other reviewer that there’s nothing to improve in this app. You swipe down and get three panes, which you can customize to show which panes you’re going to use. Each one of the panels can show a detail view for an item or a list view. You can use pinch gestures to open/close the detail view. You can customize this to work with either iCloud Drive or Dropbox. It has built-in smarts to not store items copied from 1Password clipboard items. The pull-down drawer is so well thought out that I can see Apple utilizing it for something of their own in the future. I love it when developers find ways to keep their app icon out of my menu bar. This app shows the icon by default, but you can disable it and only use the swipe gesture (or custom shortcut). This is clearly made by a highly-skilled, detail-oriented, developer and designer.

Excellent for quick notes! Any way you can add a Task List app in there? I know there are a million of them around but instead of my clipboard a task list would be KILLER!

I’m a regular user of PilotMoon’s PopClip, which adds an iOS like bubble to text selection on OS X, with the standard cut/copy/paste commands plus a variety of special functions. You can for instance select from tex you’re reading and have it opened as a Wikipedia search. Someone just wrote an extension for Unclutter, which led me to take a look at this program. It’s fantastic! I’ve tried a variety of shelf like add-ons in the past. None of them has been as well-thought-out or effective as Unclutter. I do a lot of academic writing. I’m constantly storing fragments of text and files for later use. Although I am an avid Evernote user, often I don’t want to create a new file for just a small fragment of text. Unclutter gives me a safe temporary holding place for fragments of text, files and pics for later use. The current edition has three panels that form a pulldown across the top of the screen – one is a clipboard history, one for files and pics, and the other a notepad. In the program preferences you can choose to use any or all three of these windows, and also choose where you want data in each of these panels to be stored. The panels are resizable horizontally – I’ve chosen to make the notes area a little larger. Speaking of notes, I’ve also discovered that notes are individually or in total searchable. The author recognizes the security implications of the program and in the preferences allows the user to designate certain programs as off-limits – for instance I use a program to store passwords, I would not want them to end up in Unclutter. Also worth mentioning is avery helpful Quick Reference that comes with the program and is available either from a small tab at the bottom of the drop-down or from the menu bar icon. My only suggestions to the author of the program are cosmetic. It comes with two colour schemes, dark and light plus an “automatic mode.” I’m not sure what the automatic mode does – it seems to just default to the “light setting,” regardless of my desktop background or the system’s preference general setting for appearance. It would be nice to have a few more choices. It would also be great to be able to set transparency level. One problem with drop-down panels is that they can hide data that needs to be input. This is also true on the OS 10 drop-down print settings. Finally, it would be nice to be able to adjust the vertical size of the drop-down.

I use this mostly for quick notes but the temp file holder is also very useful. Best of all.. it just works. I dont think about it, it is just there when I need it, doesnt pester me with constant updates or waste ram. I love it. 4.99 is the cost of a beer and I have gotten good use out of this for years.. the last beer… not so much. Update, I had forgotten I already made a good review but using this while writing a paper I am reminded just how incredabilly important this app is to me. This is one of the things that makes me absolutly love working on my Mac.

Purchased Unclutter based on the glowing reviews - yet finding that it doesn’t seem to really manage mounting locations or networked directories. Inquired and have been waiting for weeks now with no response. (Comment made December 12, 2015)

I love this app - it is the best Mac utility/productivity app to come out in 2 or 3 years! Did you know that the more files you keep on your desktop, the more memory you use? This app keeps files at your finger tips without using the desktop. This also has the simplicity of sticky notes without the clutter. Give it 10 minutes and you’ll not go without!

I love love love this app. It’s great for a quick note and storing files. I like to put files I’ll need in a situation (like a meeting) in here. I’m looking forward to future additionas and updates!

This app became part of my workflow in about a minute. I could have cared less about the clipboard and notepad features at first, but both are now indespesible.

Great Application! Increases my functionality quite a bit. The clipboard is decent, but I don’t use it very often. The notes are helpful, they are great for checklists or other note-related things. The file storage is the one I use most. I use the file storage instead of my desktop. It is very helpful as well. Overall a great application.
