Unclutter App Reviews

I enjoy using this app for notes and temporarily storing files! I could never get used to a todo list app before but with unclutter it’s quite convenient - just scroll down on the task bar and write things down! Suggestions: - adjust the look and feel to fit yosemite - add a more structured todo/reminder plugin as an alternative for the common note plugin - make it possible to have 2 folders displayed in unclutter and to choose the display style (icons, list, details..)

It’s a simple way to be more organized. The clipboard is great, if you have to copy two or more things! A transparent look would be a nice addition so. But it’s worth the price if you want to step up your game!

..for some reason it cannot be launched anymore on El Capitan. And the developer does not respond anymore. It’s been one of the best apps ever, but for now it is useless. Seeking for a working alternative, I am giving Paste a chance now. Looks good so far - even though it is using mainly shortcuts and seems not as structured as unclutter was.

I really love that tool – btw: it works perfect with OS X 10.11.4 (El Capitan). Just a few UI bugs, but wayne :)

This app is an elegant solution to cleaning up your desktop and making quick notes.

. . . with a lot of potential. Still obviously in the early stages but Im interested to see how it develops. In fact, I think it is in a very nascent way what Dashboard could have/should have been: a simple and quick little drawer that folds down and gives you quick access to things you use often and information you want. Widgets? So 2004! Being able to quickly check the contents of my clipboard, as an academic writer, is really convenient. Im not sure how this could be implemented effectively, but it would be cool to take it a bit further an add a clipboard history.

Within hours of my initial review (below) I was pleasantly surprised to receive a email from a member of the support team. I can tell you now this is not something that usually happens (from most developers), and is quite refreshing. The following review is still valid, although slightly modified. But I am happy to learn that they are talking this app seriously(if only for its sucesss) and will continue development. From the team who created DaisyDisk I really expected better. I wouldnt have even thought about purchasing it if wasnt from such a respected developer. Lets start with the "clipboard", which Does nothing except DISPLAY TEXT, only file names or copied text, and only what is CURRENTLY in the clipboard. at least it could save the last few item copied for recovery. how does this help unclutter anything? File Storage. the actual location of the files is a hidden folder in the library system directory, this is not indexed by spotlight. so files can easily be lost or forgotten when they dont appear in any search. I guess that actually does unclutter your search. But you will probably want to do some leg work to get those files indexed or synced to dropbox (should be standard feature these days) Now the "notes" file is still somewhat of mystery. I cant find the actual file to backup/sync. I guess its useful for temporary notes, but most the time I write something down it is for a reason and would like to keep it saved. sync with Evernote or Dropbox would be much appreciated. You might think Im asking a lot or complaining for a 3$ app but these guys can do better, Its a good Idea and implemented correctly I would pay 10$+ for this. keep making quality apps guys.

A few extra little features (like being able to drag a file inside a folder) and this app would be perfect. Still, great job. Keep up the good work.

Its really a nice app and it can be a must if we can drag files into folders.

A fantastic little app. I love having a convenient and unintrusive place to drop files that I need easy access to for a short time before they move on to a permanent home. I prefer to keep a neat Desktop, and Unclutter makes this effortless. The notes panel is a perfect spot for temporary and frequently-accessed bits of text. The ability to drag out a panel as a floating window is ideal for moving files around between apps and for easy reference to text on the note pad. Finally, the activation method is very clever, since its so easy to trigger but unlikely to be tripped by accident.

This app is just one of those tools you need to have. I use the notes option all day long for quick things i need to remember. And with this version now you can select all clips making it even more usefull. It would be nice if you use a key command to switch between clips but even without that this app is a keeper. I personally don’t use the file option but haveing the option to turn it on and off in my view makes me happy as now i don’t have to see what i don’t use.

Been using this app for quite some time, very excited about the new update to the notes section! If you need the perfect place to access temp. files, notes, clipboard this is the app that does it perfectly!

In terms of my productivity, Unclutter v1 was definitely a game-changer. But Unclutter v2 takes things to the next level!!

This app just keeps getting better! I use Mission Control heavily, and noticed that how Unclutter interacted with Mission Control and full screen apps could be improved. So I sent an email to the developer. I got an immediate reply, and now this version has addressed at least one of the issues I pointed out to him. Awesome! All three parts of the app — notes, files, and the clipboard history — are surprisingly useful. Other apps address each of these functionalities individually, some better than others, but thusfar none have done so as elegantly as Unclutter. Whether or not you’re looking for what this app provides, try it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Does exactly what it says. My only complaints are as follow: - when I drag a shortcut into the “Files” panel, it automatically adds “alias” to the end of the shortcut name. This is redundant, and I find myself removing it repeatedly. - I cannot drag a file directly into a folder in the “Files” panel; rather, I have to use finder to add it to that folder. - I cannot change the name of a fold in the “Files” panel by clicking on the name as I would in the desktop; I have to right click. Other than these very minor complaints, awesome! A real time-saver for sure.

Thanks for this useful app. It definitely unclutters my desktop. One suggestion, a way to block certain apps (like password apps) from the clipboard history. My password manager clears after a few seconds and i cannot paste the contents any longer. I noticed though, that Uncluttered still lists this content.

I know this seems like one of those apps that is just a buggy gimmick that you will never use, but that description could not be less accurate in this case. This app is genius and I use it all the time. Being able to edit my clipboard so easily is fantastic and I cannot begin to count the times when it is useful to have a floating notepad onhand for taking notes or to use as reference in another app. The clipboard manager is also great so you don’t lose any text you previously considered copy-worthy. Unclutter is stable, responsive, and well supported. There are frequently extremely useful updates. The new dark theme looks great aand is a fantastic addition to the app. I find this app to be an asset in all of my work involving writing or data processing.

It’ll become second nature to use this app. Your productivity just skyrockets!

Ive installed this newer version of Unclutter, encouraged by the info (in Whats New note) that the problems with multimonitor setup (originally reported in my previous review) were fixed. And YES, indeed, the app work lika a charm now on my dual-monitor vertical setup. Thanks Guys for fixing this! Great app!
