Unclutter App Reviews

Totally worth it!

My desktop was cluttered with text files and images, now its "clean" and the files are safe and sound in the Unclutter files tab. Cool, simple, easy to use… Totally reccomend!

Excellent Program! But a few minor annoyances

Absolutely love this program. It’s an amazing addition to my workflow. I do wish that I could navigate through the different panes with my keyboard however, especially when I pull it up with a keyboard shortcut. I also wish that command+down opened files like it does in Finder. Despite these little issues I’m still very fond of this program!

You need this util, everyone needs

If you can buy only one util, just buy this one, it’s no-brainer! Amazing utility. SImple and very effective.

Astonishing!

This little app is SO handy. Eve though I have 2 monitors on my desk, I dont need to wate screen space on some folder area and a notebook app window. Superb!

All is well

Please, add iCloud sync. Thx.

MUST HAVE!

An ideal, very useful app! If I was Apple, I wouldve included it to the next OS release ! :)

Just got - Initial Review

I think this application is worth the price for the Notes and Files features. However, I think there is room for improvement in regards to clipboard usage. Here are a couple things that I think will improve the app as far as the clipboard is concerned: 1.) Allow the user to select and copy multiple clipboard items saved in Clipboard Manager history, perhaps they are put in clipboard buffer with new lines in between, so that they can be pasted together. Maybe a clipboard history item merge or a combine history item to form a new clipboard history item. Currently, you can only choose one saved clip in the history to work with at a time. This is what I docked a star from. You can move multiple files to/from Unclutter without issue. It may be more likely that you won’t need to combine separate Notes but that may benefit. 2.) In the Unclutter clipboard section, there are 3 buttons (Clear/Cancel, List/History View, Favorites). If you replace the cancel with a preferences cog, you can create a list of options, similar to the one in the Files section, for the Clipboard. You can add items from the clipbard preferences to the list such as “Clipboard history keeps:” with a slider, “Clipboard opens with:” with 3 options, and the clear clipboard option if you replace the cancel icon. To help improve the clipboard part of the application further, I’ll suggest that the developer review other existing clipboard managers for additional ideas, namely Ditto for Windows and Copy’em Paste for Mac. I haven’t tried Copy’em Paste as I got this app instead but I hear it’s close to Ditto, which is amazing with the amount of settings/features involved. Keep up the good work.

Essential Utility

I rarely write reviews.. I’ve been using this app for a few months & it’s incredibly helpful. Unclutter does what it’s supposed to do and proves itself useful really fast. I never encountered any issues whatsoever. In my opinion, it’s a great app for productivity which quickly becomes an essential utility. At $6, this app is one of those rare things where value crushes cost.

brilliant

It’s the perfect balance of power and simplicity. It really lives up to its promise to be a convenient way of putting files or notes out of view but keeping them handy and omnipresent. And I just realized I could drag a note out to make a temporary floating sticky for reference! One of my favorite uses for this is to quickly drag email attachments into unclutter. That allows me to switch comfortably back to another app, pull down and drag the file to its new destination. Very seamless and intuitive.

Imminently handy!

A great and novel app. The developer is quick to respond to feedback and is already working on the couple of very minor rough edges. I expect Unclutter will become an indispensable part of my workflow.

Slowing Down - Minor Nuances

It’s a bit rough – Minor Nuances 2/5 When I first got this app, I loved it because the concept, but slowly the nuances began to get to me. Clipboard – Decent 3/5 The clipboard section is decent. It doesn’t necessarily make the app great, but it is useful on occasion. It’s not amazing, but it isn’t negative. Neutral here. Files – Annoying 2/5 The file section is cool, but can be hindering. I don’t have the same options with files in the file section as I do with files on my desktop. This might sound picky, but I disagree. I think that Uncluttered should speed me up, and not slow me down. What would make this better is if I could have my Uncluttered window be like a secondary desktop. What would be amazing is if the file section was like a mini finder window. When I click a folder in the file section, it opens finder. I’d rather just see the inside of the folder from that window. Notes – Bad 1/5 Awkward… The idea is awesome, but it has issues. At first, placing notes up there was fun. The issue is getting a new notepad is a pain in the neck, and I can’t keep substantial notes up there. What would make this better? Having a note section that I can organize and take care of a bit easier. What would make this great? Being able to drag note files out of the note section and into the desktop. What would make this amazing? Markdown and RTF potential. General use – Decent 3/5 The sliding down functionality is great… I can’t deny that. Small annoyance, I can’t make the uncluttered icon disappear from my menu bar. The appearance also doesn’t match Apple at all… Appearance is bad, but the functionality is good. Conclusion - Total: 2/5 I’m very close to deleting the app, but I have hope that they’ll update it. If they don’t, I may look into making one of my own.

great app

it is good application and make things easy. i believe it need some issues to fix, time to time it can hung.

Very useful, but not yet complete

Great app, easy to use and intuitive. But it should provide a clipboard history too to be complete. It cant replace any of the other clipboard apps.

not so user friendly

I have installed unclutter and started using it. It looks very neat but there are some issues that I do not like. (i) I cannot find an easy way to move files from the desktop to the files window. To do this I have to undock the window, move it to the desktop and then move files there by drag and drop. Not really easy. Direct dragging doesnt work because the pulled down window bar vanishes as soon as you klick somewhere else but into the window bar. I admit that I am not an expert Mac user, but I am alos not a complete computer novice. (ii) The clipboard window is nice, but how can I access the files listed there? So far I can only see text in the clipboard. (iii) When working with multiple screens the behaviour of the window bar is strange especially when the additional screen is placed above the first screen. So- I am not completely satisfied. My ratig is 3 stars.

Great App

Very Usefull but please add more functions

Useful so far

@ Radebeul… Yes you can put files in the files window by dragging it from desktop to the top of the screen and then into the open window. The should be more than one clipboard entry...

A good start

You have done some very nice work with this app :) But I hope you will add new features soon, especially an option to hide the Menu Bar Icon...

Nice, but...

… if you have a secondary monitor attached and its positioned above the main display, you can hardly hit the right pixel to open the bar. I now use a short cut, but Id like the preference of putting the bar to a second monitor instead of the main one instead. Very recommended!

Very useful app

I use the file-panel to upload files to my NAS - very cool! Things to improve: - a (basic) calculator as panel - more instances of the note-panel and the file-panel (to different locations) When improved: 5 *****!

Pretty good!

Very useful app, indeed. Nonetheless a more sleek/flat/minimalistic design – at least to offer – would make a better user experience.
